Checklist

The following fundamental details are required when selecting materials and designing tanks for storage of liquid chemicals:

Product facts: - Media – Working and design temperatures – Density – Viscosity – Pressure – Safety regulations
Tank data: - Volume – Installation space available – Horizontal or vertical, open or closed – Vertical with conical bottom and skirt / stand – Flat or conical top (vertical tank) – Above or underground (horizontal tank) – Painted – Insulated – Heating coil
Connections: Manhole – Fixed flanges / sleeves / nipples – Position on the tank – Material (GRP, PVC)
Function: Filling, emptying, ventilation, for measuring instruments etc.
Pipes: Venting, suction pipes, filling – Length of neck when underground – Green lid / manhole / cover – Electronic equipment e.g. separator alarm, overfill protection, level monitoring
